I know what your talking about. I imagine it would be because when the sugar is clumped together, only a certain amount of it can dissolve in the water around it, so when you stir it (in whatever direction), the sugar is dissolved in water that has not dissolved any sugar yet. Once the sugar has dissolved in a liquid, it stays that way until the liquid is evaporated off for example. So stiring it in the opposite direction wont "undissolve" the sugar, because the sugar has already bonded with the water molecules.Originally Posted by silverman
