if i were to make a venturi tube - one end is 120mm with a PC fan on it, then reduces slightly to say 100mm then increases back to 120mm. Both ends of the tube are left open.

I turn the fan on so air is being pushed through the tube (the fan is taking air from the environment and pushing (not pulling via vacuum for example) through the tube.

the big question - is the fan being made to do more work to push the air past this 'bottleneck' in the pipe or is the venturi effect compensating for this and it is making no difference to the load?
