The pro's are many.
The con's are:
- slow throughput
- delicate (tips always seem to break or collect residue)
- resolution is limited by the radius of the tip end
- ability to discern steep sample topography is limited by the tip aspect ratio and the tip end shape (flared tip can be better in this case)
- tips are expensive!
