Thread: Weight of copper in Cables

Hi

Can anyone tell me how to calculate the weight of bare copper in wires and cables. what is the formula to calculate weight of 20 swg bare copper, 30 swg bare copper, 36 swg bare copper, 38 swg bare copper, etc...

For a formula you would need to know the diameter of wire. So you could get the area of a cross section. And the volume of copper per inch or foot of wire. The weight of copper. Then you could calculate the weight of an inch, or foot, or a thousand feet.
