Why the Galileo transformations are not correct for inertial systems which are traveling close to the speed of light? What made Lorentz to correct this?

It all starts with the realization that light in a vacuum moves at a constant speed regardless of the frame of reference. From there, all the other effects of relativity can be deduced.

If you were to check light heading east and west, it will be found to be traveling at the exact same speed. The reason is that it is traveling through a medium that supports a certain velocity of transfer. Regardless of how fast the vessel is moving, in this case the earths atmosphere is the vessel.

Even though we are sure that there will be a 3000 feet per second difference at the equator.
