    Okay. Hypothetical situation:

Two people are aware of the world ending in the near future. Let's say within the year. It's definite, it'll be over in a flash, and there's no escape as it stands now. No space-ark, no scifi deus ex machinas.

They have been instructed to keep this information to themselves as to avoid widespread, global panic.
Person 1 agrees with this. Best let the inevitable happen in peace, instead of people bleeding out on the sidewalk over a 40" flat screen.
Person 2 does not agree. Risking global panic seems a small price to pay for the possibility of a one bright mind standing up with a solution.

Based on this, who's right, and what arguments could be made for either case?
