IN RESPONSE TO THE POLL ON NOTHING

    ok
    the universe is a counter
    it counts time
time starts at 0 and continues infinitely
once time is created all that exists is now
therefore as soon as time progresses from 0 to 1, "nothing" or "zero" can never exist again.

Yes, the litteral meaning of nothing existed before the universe.
No, nothing can never exist again until the next repeat of a "cycle".

    I'm 16, failing 3/4 courses...

what u think of my idea?just thought of it while readin urs

You cannot have the lack of having a thing,
since the lack of having a thing is not a thing.

And if it was a thing it would not be the lack of things.
    So you cannot have nothing.
So something can have something, and nothing can have nothing but something can not have nothing so the only question is can nothing have something? I know, it sounds like a stupid question, but can someone emperically prove it?

Er, a small flaw, we don't actually know that 'nothing' existed before the universe, the theory is the universe was created from something else, there are more theories about this than stars, nice try though, I understand your point, it might even be the real one, though don't expect a Nobel on such a short piece.

I'd say stop failing your courses and get on top of things.

    hypothetically, if it goes 0 1 2 3 ... back to 0 1 2 3, its going in a pattern. why does the pattern have to be linear? maybe it goes 0 1 2 3 2 3 2 3 4 0 1 5 6...
or maybe after finishing one repitition of a pattern it changes the next one. so in short, maybe it has to repeat itself a million times and go back a thousand years before it can move ahead 1 day?

I like to think that nothing exists (autonomously) in relation to the one thing that actually exists, namely the universe.

apart from flows in your assumptions, eg "universe is a counter" etc, and you use of the word "before" when u say no time existed ... i have to say i dont get what the point of your post is.

as some one most elequently put it "stop failing your courses and get on top of things"

having said that, its good that you are thinking, and trying to be creative, but u will be suprised how much more refined your thinking will be with a little learning

Yer assuming time and space are linear. They're not.

Also, what happens to your theory if the big-bang is a common occurrence? How do we know there aren't other universes? That there wasn't a big-bang before? That we aren't yet another part of a larger existence?
