    Imagine This

Imagine that you and a thousand other people lived deep in the jungle of Africa. Imagine further that every one of you had been born colorblind and none had any idea what color was. Imagine further that you were an exercise nut and discovered, quite by accident, that if you performed a certain sequence of exercises you developed color perception.

    What would you do?

If you tried to tell the others what would they do? Would you be able to convince any one of them to follow your example? How would you explain to them what you had accomplished? Would they eventually kill you like the Athenians did Socrates?

    What would you do?
First I'd take the precision to not tell people at first. I'd think of what others would say. But eventually I suppose I would try and teach them. But how could you be sure that YOU are the unique one who can truly see? I mean others may go around claiming the same?

If you tried to tell the others what would they do?
I'd assume the others would split into three groups. One being that people would want to believe you and ask for you to show them. Two, people would be skeptical and only believe it with proof before doing it themselves. And three, those that would call you a crackpot. But you always have them. Skeptism and negation is healthy after all :P.

Would you be able to convince any one of them to follow your example?
I'd assume that being colour blind would give a lot of communication disfunction, so people should be open to the idea of all being able to see the correct colour. With the right method to get the to see the same result among several people, then people would believe you.

How would you explain to them what you had accomplished?
Try and find somebody in this jungle who actually saw the same as me, (everyone is colour blind so even the one who can see the right colours is going to still thought to be colour blind), that would help.

Would they eventually kill you like the Athenians did Socrates?
If you insulted or scared them enough, probably yes. Alike Socrates' lack of thought to what he was praising before he knew what would happen to him. You would get swatted like a fly. Pun intended.

Well, since everyone of you were born colorblind, no one, including you, would at first know what's actually going on. You'd be baffled by your discovery, and you wouldn't know how to express it at first. You might tell them that there is something strange happening to your eyes when you do this particular thing. You might encourage others to do the same, say, the ones who are courageous enough to do it (it might still be dangerous, you never know!).
So why would anyone try to kill you? Firstly they don't have to do it, and secondly if they do and they notice it's not dangerous, you'd be praised rather than condemned, except by those who envy you.
Ok, might be that like Jesus, you've become a threat to authority.
    I am.
    You can't deny it.

I suspect Socrates might have thought the same thing just before his execution.
