# Thread: can "0" be number one?

1. If zero, "0", behaves as though it RANKS in priority in ANY multiplication, and thus appears to be the a-priori of numbers when it comes to multiplication, in a philosophical sense it thinks it is number one, numero-uno, when it comes to what a number is.

What if there existed a mathematical algorithm, a mathematical code, that specified the very difficult if not confusing link between 0 and 1?

It is also interesting to note that the code that carries this message, the binary computer code, is 0_1 compliant. 2.

3. Please don't jam up this sub-forum with your non-mathematical gibberish. Just in case anybody is taken in by this gobbedly-gook, here:

In set theory, it is always possible to find the empty set Ø such that A ∪ Ø = A and A ∩ Ø = Ø.

In an algebraic set one has a binary operation on elements x·y = z. There is also defined some e such that e·x = x; e is called the identity. (for sets with an inverse, the right identity is easily found).

Where the operation · is +, by convention the symbol 0 is used for the identity; x + 0 = x. Where the operation is ×, the symbol 1 is used; x×1 = x.

In the case there are inverses, define x-1 + x = 0, x-1 = -x, and x-1 × x = 1, x-1 = 1/x. C'est tout - while it is uninterestingly true that the identity enjoys a certain privilege, 0 and 1 share that privilege equally. 4. BEING RIGHT is what we all AIM FOR.

The idea of "being right" is "doing the right thing".

Does ethics exist in mathematics.

If I am presenting some new way of describing "0" and "1", am I trying to be right, am I trying to be ethical?

If someone can throw at me some big equation, I hope they can throw at me who God is. 5. Mathematics is a tool.

Mathematics is a "way" we actually USE our BRAIN.

Are we unlocking the secret of our brain in using mathemtics?

Or, is mathematics telling us what to do? 6. mathematics is a very primative way of using our brain.
My calculator can solve allot of mathematical probles, or better yet my computer.
But my computer, and every other computer on this planet, has an IQ of under 3 (compare to a worm, not even a bee or a fly).

Mathematics is a system that is bound by rules and therefor each number of this system can be used ror instance to call up the same number up again.

so 1+1=2; if I would recalculate that without mathematical rules it could end up that any thing times any number equals 42 and the next time it would be 3.

So matheatics would be a bunch of rules, to be exact, the same rules of the universe. Bookmarks
