I am doing a research on how impulses could be directed to go to a specific part of the brain or body. From what i know impulses are the reason why chemicals are released in the axon once fired from the axon hillock and causes either de-polarization or hyper-polarization. This releases neurotransmitters which flow to the end of the axon and get collected by protein receptors which help release the effect of the inhibitor or excitor.

Knowing this, only certain receptors will collect what neurotransmitters are released. This tells me that neurotransmitters are the key to finding out how signals are received in different parts of the brain/body.

Can you help me confirm this please? Also would you happen to know how impulses are created? I don't think they are created from thin air.

    Thank you
