The time is coming when Logic will dictate this extra little car for peak hour Freeway use. Be it for one person or two. I envisage three wheelers, a little lke the early morgans. But Narrow. Why narrow. Perhaps allowing for two extra lanes on existing Freeways. Lower speed limits, say a steady 40 miles per hour, over the travel journey to work. These cars will be for travelling to work only. No other vehicles will be allowed on Narrow Car lanes. All costs covering the use of these vehicles to be kept at a minimum, including Toll Ways. THe cars themselves will be mass produced, almost throw-away design. New Factories will be required, new employment created. Maattee, this has got to be part of the Future. westwind.

Why not just better public transport if you're just talking about commuting?

Nifty small vehicles like this or scooters or electric bikes (not motorbikes) would make those ginormous carparks at interchanges a bit more manageable.

MAss transit with better infrastructure would seem to be a better option. Commute to a transit hub in your personal vehicle. take the transit to the destination you need to go to. This would decrease the volume of traffic greatly.

MAss transit, built from the bottom up, not clouged together from hundred year old rail stations that you need to step over a dozen homeless and through three puddles of piss and sidestep around three muggers to get to ....and than having arrived at your next transportation node find out its actually not connected to anything. There are exceptions of course, but mass transit in the US at least is horrible and a deserved failure. Excited from my time living in Europe were is was amazingly easy to get around on busses, trains and planes I tried using the mass transit on on the eastern seaboard several times--until we get seriuos and do things from scratch and airline terminal standards--I won't do it again.
