    Astronomers detect '10th planet’

    What do people think?

    Huge Planet Found Beyond Pluto

What was God doing before He created the Universe?
Before He created Heaven and Earth, God created Hell to be used for people such as you who ask this kind of question.

I heard about this a long time ago and then nothing at all. I was under the impression it couldn't be proven so they just kind of forgot about it. If it is in fact "fact" then it just goes to show what we can overlook right in our own backyard.

It looks hopeful that this time it is fact. Overlooking such a thing just goes to show how little we really know.

Kind of interesting. If it is true, I don’t see a motive for keeping it from the public. I think it is merely a case of making sure before getting peoples hopes up. From the BBC article, it looks like they are pretty sure.

This is interesting, of course, but to me it is not surprising. Like tom said, there is soooo much that we don't know. How big is the new planet, relative to the other nine? You say in your title that it is "huge."

I've also heard about a "12th" planet, as an old, old Sumerian tale or myth or something. Anyone know anything about this old tale? Wouldn't it be interesting if we do find an 11th and "12th" new planet soon. What happens when we find an, oh god no, 13th planet? :-D

Pluto should never have been considered a planet. And this thing sounds exactly like Pluto 2.0. It's orbit is crazily different compared to the rest of the planets and it's tiny.

Apparently its about 3,000km across, a size comparison can be seen at the bottom of the first link above. So not that huge. :? I took the title from techdirt, blame them!

Astronomers think that at some point in its history, Neptune probably flung the small world into its highly inclined 44-degree orbit.

Pluto is being relegated from being a planet, probably from debates sparked about this new hunk of rock being a planet of not. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/4737647.stm
