Boy Scouts of America, riddled with pending sexual misconduct lawsuits resulting from some poor screening processes over the years, now in need of bankruptcy protection. Here’s what’s in store or at least one step towards the goal.

Is there a certain willingness in people to forgive and forget? Will BSA ever regain trust? I see Catholics mentioned in above news story and I think of how many people still have faith in that religion despite the church having similar problems. My gut feeling is that as time passes, BSA will recover somewhat.

Not sure if this judge’s ruling is for BSA or victim’s benefit? Not surprise to see that some litigants could be charlatans trying to cash in.

I was later an altar boy in the RC s but was a bit clued up and had no problems.

Tidy? Unremarkable RC altar boy career? You’re one of the lucky ones who escaped.

Was a Cub Scout until one Nov 11 Remembrance/Armistice/Veteran’s Day celebration in Northern Ontario town of Petawawa when I damn near froze my ass off. I was only 9yrs old in a Canadian Armed Forces village wearing only my shorts and Cub shirt. Told my parents I was done and they were ok with it. That day/decision may have saved me from one day encountering a real life sexual predator, who knows?

Actually it was the Cubs I meant.I was unsuitable from an early age (about 8 I guess).My brother, who was abseiling down cliffs in the Scouts thought it was very funny.

We used to have priests visit the house as they were held in good estimation by my parents (and us) but there was no problem.
When I was an altar boy (don't remember why I wanted to do that but it seemed quite important) priests were already a byword for kiddy fiddlers so I didn't let them keep their supposedly pastoral hands on my legs (still wearing shorts at that age (10,11?)
My pals did the same at the CofE church and boasted that they pilfered from the money collection.

I was impressed but was too noble to follow suit.

I too was in the cubs for a bit and was an altar server for some years. No trouble with any of the adults.

Though the priest that came to the RC prep school I attended had a reputation for playing pocket billiards.
