How does this happen before it should?

All that belongs to human understanding, in this deep ignorance and obscurity, is to be skeptical, or at least cautious; and not to admit of any hypothesis, whatsoever; much less, of any which is supported by no appearance of probability...Hume

Half life is a statistical average, any radioactive atom can decay at any time, the half life just tells you the time it would take 50% of the atoms in a given sample to decay. Half lives only make sense for samples containing large numbers of atoms as it relies on the statistical averaging of behaviour of individual atoms.

is this the WIMPs experiment or something else?

I can't see that it has anything to do with WIMPs... It's just radioactive decay by electron capture.
