Apparently, an experiment conducted at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel has revealed that upon smelling a woman's tears, men had a decrease in testosterone and sexual arousal:

To the contrary, a different experiment utilizing mice showed that the rodent tears boosted sexual arousal:

An interesting find in the study of pheromones...

Perhaps the most famous example of pheromone study; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Menstrual_synchronization

Though there is nothing "crackpot'y" to pheromone study, NewScientist is often cited by bonafide crackpots. I also didn't find any link to a preprint, and they want money.
NatGeo is of course reputable, but the ad's are annoying.

Somebody need's to isolate an actual pheromone. Start with chromatography.

I'm a bona fide New Scientist subscriber...

But the article was also posted on AOL and myriad of other more acceptable media outlets for your reading pleasure.

That in itself doesn't make you a crackpot, we've all paid for stuff that turns out to be crap.

I didn't pay for it... The subscription was given to me as a gift for being inducted into an honor society. That being said, the articles found within New Scientist are just as good as anywhere else, and the opinions and blogs are interesting; you don't have to like it, but I enjoy reading both the site and the magazine, and I would appreciate if you would leave me to it. Thank you.
