In Afghanistan the districts are littered with Ieds and mines.
What if we can have these very transportable, modular, very adaptive and smart platforms, walking platforms!
simply for a person to walk on, maybe a road..
but non the less a platform,
Now this platform 10 feet wide and 10 feet in length flat on stilts with a height of maybe 1-3 feet off the ground.
The smart "side walks" will be able to detect anything that is on it with its technologically advanced sensing hardware, for example some cloths in a pile the smart surface can analyze and search in its data base for a match, the smart side walk found a match, and its a pile of clothing. Also because these things are small portable and modular and a flat hard surface! I don't think anyone's gonna be able to dig a hole and cover it with dirt or something big, because on a 5' -10' flat walking surface I think were gonna notice it!

And it can be very cheap!!! Very very cheap!

We can have this right outside peoples door steps it can be small or street sized, they can walk on these platforms to other houses, even at or inside there farm fields even going across a long stretch of road like side walks.
from reading this I know what your thinking, your thinking " you make it seem like your creating a whole new surface, it go back to how it is now, ieds under rocks, or clothing, bushes"
Ill tell you not! 3' to 10' "smart" sidewalks going around town is not something that will envelope the terrain, but it will save lives and deter the use of IEDs and mines being placed in towns.

IED is remote controlled. This mean you must not let the bomber see you else you'll explode. If you're on a platform you'll explode too...

How can it be smart and cheap?

How's it avoid just putting something under the platform, much as insurgents often put IEDs behind guard rail, road signs.

Training people to detect and dispose of IEDs is probably just as cheap and effective in the long run.
