    Hi,
Am Tareef, me and my friends were interested in building a Tesla Coil, and so we did one, but actually after we finished assembling and fixing the parts together we noticed that while we were testing it, the sparks only came out from the spark gap, and nothing came out from the toroid, we spent hours trying to know why that happened but we reached to nothing
so for that am asking you if you can help us by giving us an advise.
by the way i will provide you with some videos, so it can be easier for you to know whats happeneing.

The First Video Shows All The Wiring We Made
    (( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAXuUUsCXoY ))

The Second Video Shows Whats Happening With Us
    (( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkoX6FoonzQ ))

note: you will notice that in the wiring video that the is a copper coil on the ground, actually we put id there and we connected it with a wire for grounding, and that wire is connected to a steel pipes used for the fire fighting in our building.
hope the information which i gave to you is enough.

    Waiting Your Advice,, Thanks Alot
    Tareef

um, this might be a better topic for in the electronics section. tesla coils are more electrical in nature than military. know what i mean

mods could move it, or you could repost.....

as for any actual help, i'd watch the video's but dont really have time right now.
im not specifically sure where your talking about though, but as a general rule make sure you check your connections and stuff.

    Erm, Why?

What are you trying to use this device for?

And what is the point in grounding a telsa-coil? :S
The hand of time rested on the half-hour mark, and all along that old front line of the English there came a whistling and a crying. The men of the first wave climbed up the parapets, in tumult, darkness, and the presence of death, and having done with all pleasant things, advanced across No Man's Land to begin the Battle of the Somme. - Poet John Masefield.

Same reason you want to build a sonic blaster.
actually tesla coils are fun to play with

i'm not sure about you, but if i had a sonic blaster, i'd do more than just play with it, i'd shoot it at teh sun and see what in space would happen
    physics: accurate, objective, boring
chemistry: accurate if physics is accurate, slightly subjective, you can blow stuff up
biology: accurate if chemistry is accurate, somewhat subjective, fascinating
religion: accurate if people are always right, highly subjective, bewildering

You might have had some real answers in the Electrical and Electronics Forum.

Ask the moderator to move it for you. Or, just make another post.

I'm planning to build one myself, but I'd say check your directions very well, trace the circuits out , check all connectons, look for defective parts.
    good luck

Hey, I know tons about tesla coils!

I looked at your video. I do not understand what you are saying but hopefully this helps.

You have some very large components, and it looks like you are using a fairly high capacitance. what is the capacitance?

I do not understand why you have two primary coils. The falt spiral and the second single turn. Is this a feedback coil? Are you using electronics in this tesla coil like some large transistors or something? Do you have a schematic diagram of the circuit you are using you can post?

Right off the top I would say your secondary coil is way too small, so you are not getting it to resonate.

The primary coils should not be grounded! They just return to the circuit. The secondary coil should be grounded at the bottom end.
