An EMP bomb is not a explosive device, but causes electronical damage (I'd like to point out that almost 80% of our modern objects run on electricity). Thus causing disorientation and disropting communication: phones, internet ...
And also disropts military devices , making them useless or dangerous : planes, submarines, boats, missiles, ...

So (in my opinion) an EMP bomb can be more destructive than a nuclear bomb ^^

Please give me your opinion on this: a good idea or complete @%*#? ?

However, the EMP of concern is a result of the detonation of a nuclear device, either high in the atmosphere (High Altitude EMP), near the nuclear device (Source Region EMP) or by x-ray effects within an electronic device itself (System Generated EMP). There is no such thing as simply an EMP bomb.

Moreover, if one takes into account a need to harden against EMP effects, it is relatively easy to provide very effect protection against EMP. I once had a cheap credit card sized calculator in my pocket during a full-scale EMP test. The metal body of the calculator apparently provided more than adequate sheilding as the calculator (much to my surprise) was undamaged.

Nuclear missiles are designed to be very hard against all forms of EMP. Hardness can be and has been verified by testing. Ditto for aircraft. I believe that in fact most military systems are quite hard.

Haha, sounds something straight out of a game. It does sound interesting though. Do you think that if it was launched at a nuke base it could set them off?

No, last time they wailed on Baghdad pure EMP missiles were included. As I recall, these were basically large capacitors and a coil *suddenly!* deformed by conventional explosive. They were snuffing public TV and radio stations with these weapons to promote a state of anarchy.
