I was looking at westwind's picture of a watch and it made me wonder, what role does a quartz stone play in a watch?

Speaking badly about people after they are gone and jumping on the bash the band wagon must do very well for a low self-esteem.

When a current is applied to the quartz crystal, it resonates at a specific frequency, giving very accurate timings. (the pizoelectric effect)
