Hey guys just wondering what could be the replacement of traditional fuel like petroleum. As every one aware of the recent increase in the Oil prices it is becoming very hard to survive specially in third world.

Natural Gas is becoming the major source of energy but it is not efficient as Petroleum. Scientist are also trying to use other alternative such as H2O, ethanol and Water. But still they are not fully succeed. I made this forum to share your thoughts about other alternatives of energy

I am not sure if I understand your question
the 3rd world exist because you let it exist,
it exists because cheap and expensive exists
the 3rd world uses its creativity to survive
we use creativity to become richer
a technology, developed can only become profitable if the development costs are lower than its
production cost. Price is defined as cost+profit.
Define me a product which can compete with the oil industry, being developed already?
using natural gas as an energy source is equal to petrol, with regards to power efficiency
However, because of its molecular structure,it requires more molecules for the same amount of energy and storage of CH4 is more complex, being a gas which liquefies below 170k
It has a slight advantage in CO2 emission, being the shortest hydrocarbon molecule
most energy production requires combustion and so do most lifeforms, I think we could learn a lot from lifeforms that reverse this cycle carbon+hydrogen+oxygen=energy,CO2+energy=carbon

I believe you could create a steam engine that could easily replace a fuel engine. Powered by electricity, and self charging. Just my opinion. A fellow I knew and learned some machining from. Had built a car, that ran on a log. And until you shut off the car, one log got it going and kept it going. He built it before World War Two.

Today with the high pressure cam timed multi cylinder pressure pumps, made for petroleum, you could modify them and create a high pressure water pump.

To inject very small amounts of high pressure water into a cylinder just before top dead center. By passing it through a super heated nozzle type heater. Much like the water vapor smoke machines that some musicians use on stage.

    Sincerely,

Whatever it is, I still believe LPG or natural gas will be a more viable alternative fuel source compared to anything else. In fact, what we can see is that in certain countries, large buildings have even started using this to power air conditioning compressors. The only barrier that I can see is the initial investment needed but in the end, you can actually cover back the cost because the fuel is much cheaper.

    Short term:
    1)Natural gas
2)Synthetic gasoline and diesel from coal (doubtful, very wasteful)

    Long term:
    1)Aluminum
    2)Boron
    3)Lithium (doubtful,not enough abundant)
    4)Hydrogen (still need storage researches)
    5)Biofuel (doubtful on world scale)
    6)Superadvanced supercapacitors (doubtful)
7)Synthetic gasoline from water and air (doubtful, still no known researches).

    It seems all for now.

Hydrocarbons like natural gas, ethanol, and bio-diesel will probably be our new fuel source when gas prices skyrocket. Hydrogen or pure electric, considering there is enough lithium and such battery materials at a good price for everyone involved, produced from solar, wind, and tide is probably the cleanest fuel we can hope to see in the near/far future. We will have to see where governments, the private sector, and the populations of the world take us.
