i'm writing this final letter report of this project i've done - what i don't get is 'appendix'?? Check this out.

    Part C.
You have been asked to audit the company and give your recommendation as to how the company can maximize its profits. You are to create a report, including the following information:
    - A title page
    - An introductory letter, typed
    * outlining the purpose of your report (use the problem above for information)
    * a summary of what you did to analyze the data
    * your recommendation to the board of directors
    - appendix A, which is the work from part A (does not have to be typed)
    - appendix B, which is the work from part B (does not have to be typed)

So, what does appendix mean? Does it mean like, after i set up the inequalities, i have to show what i've done to solve the inequalities in earlier parts, would that be right???

An appendix is, as Wikipedia puts it so nicely, a reference section at the end of a document. In your case, you are to have two appendices, each one containing the work you did in the first two parts of the problem. Why put these at the end of your report as opposed to putting your work into the main section? Because you don't want to bog down the exposition of the report with data or technical language--you don't want to lose your audience or overshadow the overarching ideas of your report with the fine details.

(Another reason one might add an appendix to a document is to provide background material. Many math texts--in fact, I bet whatever math text you're using--have appendices in the back which give an overview of material which is assumed throughout the rest of the book. For example, an algebra text may have an appendix which discusses arithmetic operations on fractions.)

Thank you serpicojr, I believe I got you.

So, at first of the page, it has to be a title page, and then second page would be the letter and then last pages would be the work I've done to solve, correct enough? For example, the last pages would show the work done by algebracially or by substitution, right? Appendixes should mean the further details in the background, right?

    Again, thanks!
