    Hello,

Im having a huge problem I just cant understand, either its above my capabilities or Im just not seeing something. Anyway I have this goniometric equation in my book that is solved using simple substitutions & they put up these "criteria" but what I dont understand is why they start putting these criteria up from the second line & not from the first line? anyone willing to help me out please? :

    thanks!
