I never really use quadratics, currently studying GCSE's, can someone show some examples of quadratics being used practically (except for calculating the time taken for a diver to dive into a pool, which is pretty uselss).

Perhaps a cannon ball? I don't really know anyhthing

mathematical modelling and graphing. you have kind of limited yourself there quadratics are a small part of a topic called polynomials more specifically they are polynomials of degree 2. Polynomials of degree 1 are of the form p(x)=mx+b and polynomials of degree three are of the form p(x)=ax^3+bx^2+cx+d. You have things like graphing falling objects but you also have graphs for economics, habitat populations of animals to how chemical reactions change over time, how long it takes a substance to dissolve completely or at what time it stopped dissolving(end point of the reaction) etc
