My cohorts are electrical engineering students. We have a basic understanding of Fourier transforms and we're studying mechanical vibrations with an accelerometer. It was suggested by our professor to look into wavelet analysis. We can create 3D plots of signals of Morlet wavelets in Matlab, but we have a little bit of difficulty in interpreting our results.

This is our wavelet of a 5 Hz signal. I know that the scale is an inverse frequency, time is in milliseconds. I notice that 1/200 * 1000 = 5, but I don't want to jump to a conclusion. Is there a way to read this cold with certainty?
