There are 16 birds in a tree (all alive).
Using a shotgun you kill 9 of them with one shot.
How many of the birds are left in the tree that are still ALIVE?

    The answer is two.

9 killed, 4 flew off when they heard the gunshot, I died of a broken heart cos his mate was killed and the two that remainded were deaf and looking the other way.

Number of birds that are alive=16-9 = 7.
Let x be number of birds that are alive and fly away after the shot.
Hence, number of birds that are alive and still left in the tree = 7-x.

The guy asked for a number not an equation, care to give him a number after he spent all that time typing it in?

well all birds naturally fly off when they hear a gun shot, so the answer is '0', not 7-x lol nerd.

7-x is NOT equal to 7, it is equal to 7-x. Since your book says birds may be killed, flogged, stoned, enslaved, and covered up so no-one can see the marks you leave, I guess it would say there are no birds left alive in the tree.

who the hell said '7-x' is equal to '7'.

face the facts you got it wrong, now your yapping off topic to cover up your mistakes. Unlike the book, its all there in the open, read it and OPEN YOUR EYES!

Your asumptions about Islam is distroying your oppertunity for a better afterlife. Please reply to my posts about the scientific facts given from the book, that you have avoided, because you are afraid that it is totally right - instead of making stupid Islamic assumptions.

I am an atheist, there is no afterlife for me nor the blackbirds. There is no afterlife for you either, it's all a load of bollocks in your head. You really cannot believe after life there is nothing for you. Party while you're here man, there's fuck all else afterwards!

I say there will be 1 bird in the tree because its wings were temporarily disabled by shock whilst all his mates either died or shat it.

sramanujam said '7-x', what if x=7? Then there are no more birsds in the tree (assuming the dead ones fall out).

this isn't a biology forum fools! it's a math forum. animal behaviour is trivial and non-consequential. it's 7!!!!! I bet the Koran and the Bible would agree with me on that one

Yes, it's 7, according to math. According to biology, however... and for the biology/animal behaviour guys, how many would there be left alive if the dead ones didn't fall out? Would the alive ones fly off because the dead ones stink?
