    Limited options...
It can be a pain, seem like magic and in the end, I suck at math.

The set of options seems too limited for my preference, but the most true of these I guess for me would be pain.

Some subjects are very anti-intuitive, and certain proofs will drive you insane. Also, you always have to be extremely careful with what you say and how you denote things.

For every statement I make I always suspect some response saying, "Be careful. This is not always true because there's this subtle, cryptic exception that you have to know about so you'll have to apply this abstract concept this way instead of that, etc.". But, it's simply a process in learning the damned thing. And it makes you more conscious of your formalization and proofing.

Nonetheless, I think the beauty and logic of it all far outweighs the frustrating moments.

About maths, I love the part that " you can be creative with it ". People may argue that it isn't something to be creative in, but for me maths is what you can be the most creative with, and yet reach the perfect solution.

I have recently re-read a fantastic book called " Zero " The Biography Of A Dangerous Idea, written by Charles Seife. It is well worth a read.

As an old double entry bookkeeper, I find math a magical tool in making sense of the most intricate and convoluted transactions.

Maths is a tool to help us understand problems. I know its a massive subject but most of the interesting stuff in maths relates to using it as a tool to help understand our world. i.e. its a key to unlock the mysteries from the other sciences like physics etc...

I think that Math is magic, but only when you actually try to do it. It's really pain when you are not trying to even understand it.
