This is a practice question for a coming test, that I need help with.

A triangle with the area of 24 area units is limited by the positive coordinate axises (x and y) and a line that pass through the point (3,3). Now I need to work out the equation for the line.

    Thank you

We will not do the problem for you. You can start by showing what you have done and your general line of reasoning.

It was correctly stated in the OP that YOU need to work out the equation for the line.

There are several approaches that may work, try this one for example and tell us where you get stuck if you do.

    1. Sketch the situation.

    2. Write down the equation for the area of a triangle.

    3. How does the equation for the area of a triangle relate two the points were the line crosses the coordinate axises? (width/height)

    4. If we have a line through the points (x,0) and (3,3) where will it cross the y-axis? Find a formula in x for this point.

    5. Use the results in 2,3 and 4 to find a formula for the triangle area as a function of x.

    6. Solve the area formula for x.

    7. Use your results from 4 and 6 and draw the line into the sketch you made at step 1. Does it look alright?

    8. Write down the equation for the line.

this is all you need to solve it.
