    does anyone know the purpose of augmented matrix?? i was like preparing for the future courses and i ran over this type of matrix.

    It is just a book-keeping aid for doing some hand calculations involving matrices.

    having that said, will it play a role when handling 3dimension vector geometry?

    It has no particular use in the theory. You get along without it, just like you can get along without ruled paper.
