amidst my various other work I've forgotten how to mathmatically work out algebraic equations
I've been given the equation x^6 + 26x^3 - 27 = 0 to solve
I know x=1, I added 27 to both sides making x^6 + 26x^3 = 27 and then it's just blatantly obvious x is 1
the problem is I don't know how I'm supposed to come to that answer, If I come across a more complex equation where the answer isn't as glaringly obvious I'm stumped, all I can do is trial and error to find the answer
any help?
