    Hi,

I am searching for mathematical methods to reduce data. The data I want to reduce is a 24 dimensional discrete data stream.

I have already found some opportunities to work this out. One usable method is principle component analyzes. Another method can be artificial neural networks, but I donít want to use ANN because it is hard to understand what is happening inside the model.

Recently, I have found an article [1] in which they explain how to use Wavelet in combination with PCA to reduce data. As a non-mathematician, it is hard to understand how they use wavelet for data reduction. :?

So, I am looking for some literature in which an explanation is given about using the wavelet transformation to reduce data. Can anyone help me please? If anyone knows another method, let me know please?
