I'm new and probably a little mathematical stupid, but still only 14 and wanna test how this help thread works. So I'm just gonna pick up an random assignment from my Math textbook, explain it and give my best shot to guess it's logic. I'll leave some question theories if I'm able to, but don't expect them to be any smart or cleverly guessed.

Explanation: The mathematical genius Carl Friedrich Gauss (1777 - 1855) found in young age a formula to sum up the first hundred natural numbers. The sum turns out to be 5050, but then - what's the formula?

Eh, my theory, well ah . . . Need som bright assistance here

(It's not very important, I'm just here to improve my math skills a bit if possible, so all theories are welcome. I'll post mine later, but I just can't think of any at the moment . . .

Maybe 1 x 2 x 3 x etc. ?

1 x 10 x 20 x etc.

(Poorly taught + a bit fogged up :P)

I ask only for hints, of course.
