Hello fellow science-minded folks. The name is solidsquid (usually just squid for short - well, okay, my real name is Cory but I'm better known around the interwebs as Squid). I'm a current grad student at Texas State University in research health psychology and am looking to transfer to UT for doctorate work in behavioral neuroscience. I spent a year in Dallas at UTD studying applied neuroscience and cognition before I came here.

Psychology and neuroscience might be my field of choice and something I'm very much interested in but I'm also fond of biology - especially neurobiology (of course) and evolutionary biology and paleoanthropology. My non-scientific interests include metal music, guitar, a good beer or wine and martial arts which I'm finally going to be getting back into after a 5 year break...and damn did I get out of shape in that time, got a lot of work to do .

Anyhow, glad to be here and hope to contribute a lot to the board, especially in the behavioral and social sciences section.

Thanks for the warm welcome, it is much appreciated.

Neutrino: I started out back in high school learning Korean Freestyle Karate but didn't spend much time on it. I later started training in aikijujitsu and subsequently aikido. After a bit of a hiatus from martial arts I started training in Wu Dang Shaolin for a few years (I think I stopped around 2003) so I've been out of the loop there for about 4 years. However, I'm wanting to get back into aikijujitsu/aikido again.
