    Hi.

I'm a junior chemistry major. Total science nerd, geek, whatever you want to call me.

I play tennis for the college. Edited to add: sometimes I question my sanity partly due to this...

    I love horses.

Um, yeah...sorry for the kind of awkward introduction post...

    Hello

    Welcome

"When man contemplates his future death, it is as if, by thinking of it, he renders it immediate. His defence is to deny it. He cannot deny that his body will die and rot - the evidence is too strong for that; so he solves the problem by the invention of the immortal soul" Desmond Morris

Hello I'm assuming by your user name that you're a fellow girl, of which there aren't many in these here parts. Good to have another.
Man can will nothing unless he has first understood that he must count on no one but himself; that he is alone, abandoned on earth in the midst of his infinite responsibilities, without help, with no other aim than the one he sets himself, with no other destiny than the one he forges for himself on this earth.

    Thanks for the welcome

    paralith, you assumed correctly
(Fe)male = male alloyed with iron for greater strength, ductility, and magnetism.

    Paralith, you're a girl? :O
    I never would've guessed.
Whence comes this logic: no evidence = false?

Yea, I know. Most people don't. :P My username isn't as gender specific as (Fe)male's.

Interesting, though, that both your names include structural materials... hmmm... is there something the women aren't telling us? (They're actually bionic and have been hiding it all along? Ulp?)

Nah. It's just an expression of our deep (and natural!) inner strength.

Excellent. I come to a message board where I and another female scientist get worshiped

You all probably wouldn't have guessed I'm a girl either if not for the username.

I personally like putting it that way because it does express our inner strength And I'm a chem major, therefore the iron in there fits. I've actually been working with ferricyanide/ferrocyanide in my inorganic lab a bit..in a couple labs. Toxic and metallic....fun stuff

That's the nice thing about science. It's gender neutral. ^_^

Indeed, i wouldn't have guessed from looking at your posts (either of you) that ye were female.

hell, even though your name is (Fe)male i wouldnt have been much the wiser.

I suppose annominty is whats good online, is the fact every one is equal, because in the real world, it dosnt work like that.

hmm, just curions lets say there are no tags on me from previous posts, and the fact i sign my name, ect.

whats my style? female or male?

This is sad. One can guess gender based upon behavioral traits, given enough observation. I've done it before in games. I thought it was common knowledge you were a girl, paralith.

Don't underestimate how obvious a mark gender leaves on how one responds. Some see it, most don't.

But what I do find common is how people misinterpret what I say. to be clear, it takes quite a bit of data to determine gender even in more simpler cases. It just so happens I've read a lot of paralith's posts.

You're right, that's why I said "most." I've never gone to pains to hide the fact that I'm a girl, so I'd imagine that anyone who was really paying attention could figure it out rather easily, such as yourself. But since we're in a place that mostly has guys, most people don't pay attention and just assume I am a guy. Which doesn't bother me anyway, my gender should have little impact on my posts except in cases where I'm speaking about a gender specific experience.

True enough, but I have a nasty habit of trying to pay attention to every detail about other people. Heh.

    Stalker :P

goodgod3rd: Hm I'd say male. I'd attempt to give evidence but I'm short on time. I feel like making a statement without evidence or just plain "I know it by memorization" like an element on the periodic table is inadequate.

yeah you'd be right in saying so. Much evidence out there, if only the time to analyse it all.

either what i was doing in the past wasn't important, or i have somehow with (what little ageing i have taken on) ageing gotten less of it.

EDIT : well, i have just contradicted my self. i sat down with a few moments to my self before packing my notes for a long weekend home (bank holiday in Ireland :P) so indeed i do have time. i have about an hour before catching that bus. hmm.

Ha, and here I thought (Fe)male was some nerdy way of saying (Iron)Man.

    Oh and welcome (Fe)male.
Do not try and bend the spoon. That's impossible. Instead... only realize the truth. There is no spoon. Then you'll see that it is not the spoon that bends, it is only yourself. -Spoon Boy

    Thanks

It's a nerdy kind of girl power saying (though I'm not usually a girl power type gal, but I am a female nerd so it fits):

(Fe)male definition: male alloyed with iron for greater strength, magnetism, and ductility
(Fe)male = male alloyed with iron for greater strength, ductility, and magnetism.
