Hello to everyone in the Science Forum. I'm a newly retired engineer who is now pursuing an interest in biology. I've recently taken courses in the local college in subjects such as genetic analysis and biotechnology.

I'm looking for a place to talk about current topics and the latest developments in science, as reported in the news or in journals like Nature. For example, it's the 50th anniversary of the "many worlds" hypothesis in quantum physics, and more physicists are agreeing with the idea of parallel universes! [Nature 5 Jul 07].

I promise not to be obnoxious to anyone, except of course Creationists and Intelligent Designers.

    See you on the Forum.

Hey welcome to the forum. heh almost everyone is obnoxious to the creationists and intelligent designers. Though from what I've seen of the forum there aren't that many but the few that are here well don't get into an argument with them.

Engineering is essentially applied science, here's another saying hi.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'll attempt to be scientific- rather than engineering-minded, but you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. :-)
