hello everybody! I am not really new registered on this forum as you can see. I am from Germany and I am studying in the third year Mechatronics in Darmstadt. I would like very, very much to participate in the exchange program with a particular Canadian University this year. until one or two hours ago, it seemed to be quite sure that I would get a placement at this University because I have been nominated on the first position, and there is only one place for this exchange program and only one applicant, that's me. The only hurdle is the TOEFL test and I got a much too low result. I have obtained 60 scores of 120 however, 79 are required.

that's why I most-likely will have to retry this test in the hope of achieving a better result.

for me it is a dream to spend nearly a year in canada.

after my studies, my goal is research and development in the field renewable energy. maybe wind energy, geothermics, solar energy or the passive house concept, I still do not know, but definitely anything in this field.

If you like writing in icq with me, please add me! I would be very glad...

Canada eh? (<--- If you don't get that joke you will when you go to Canada)

    Welcome to the forums.

So is "the passive house concept" about making a house that creates its own energy? I once to a farm where the owner had a ton of solar panels set up on his garage that powered his whole house. It was pretty awesome. Although it costed him a ton of money to build it and it takes alot of work to maintain.

Great idea though. I like the idea of keeping warm via pushups myself.

    Enjoy the forum.

the "passive house" may be a house that produces all the energy it needs to heat it and to make warm water but there is certainly a problem with electric current I think.

according to a physicist who works on the "passive house concept" in my homeregion and who gave a short 30-minutes intrduction about it, the "passive house concept" is not a house that produces any energy. but you can combine it with other renewable energy housing-concepts or sources.

I read in the internet that a passive house is also said to be that what you mean. I do not really know, I just translated it from "Passivhauskonzept", may-be the concept differs from the actual passive house, because it is not really a total passive house but a housing concept that mainly saves much energy.

I don't know what it is with david hasselhoff but T am crazy about that series. I purchased seasons 1, 2 and 3 of knight rider last time. I really look forward to when the 4th season will be realeased on DVD. I think the english version is already available. looking it is like having a tremendously nice trip back to childhood, when I was waiting all the week until saturday 4.00 o'clock in the afternoon.
