Hello all. I am interested mainly in physics with a bit of math now & then. Have BA in engineering & applied physics plus MSEE. I prefer classical to quantum and other advanced physics. I have found that there can be a lot yet to be learned in classical physics. I have found that even famous physicists occasionally neglect basic physics issues and will be happy to point a few of these out to whoever is interested.

I tried to register on thephysicsforum.com but there was no image to identify so could not. I mention this because judging by the web layouts there seems to be some association between that forum and this one.

I chose "splitfields" as my user name because the issue of split E fields, i.e. E fields set up by charges vs. E fields set up by an emf source is of great interest to me. Hope I can interest others too.

I also have a question: Are URL links and/or file uploads (pdf, doc etc.) allowed?

I guess I'll learn more as I go, hopefujlly.

    Hi
No,thephysicsforum.com is dead and not accepting new registrations at the moment.

I think you need about 5 initial postings in order to post links.

Apart from that there is an ongoing problem uploading files to this site.
This has been reported to the webmaster and it is possible (but unlikely in my opinion ) that this will be resolved at some stage.

That's curious. Why do you make a distinction between a field due to an EMF and a field due to charges? An EMF - applied to an open circuit at least - causes a buildup of charges at the ends, does it not? In which case the two are one and the same, surely?
