There is nothing special to tell. Other than I am computer illiterate. It only took me about half an hour to get the registration form correct. I am just interested in what is going on in fields of science -- at least in the branches that I can understand. Books are my passion - real books that I can hold in my hands and even mark in if I want. I shall try not to be too slow catching on.

It depends on what I am going to do with them. Keepers for reference are hard cover. Fun reading that will be passed on to my friend, soft cover - lighter weight; cheaper mailing. Then there is the question of cost. Is the hard cover worth the higher price?

It definitely is. Cost is so low for used books, it's not worth considering. Do your research well, find the best hardcover book out there, and then look for the cheapest one on the internet. Former library books are down there with the best. I do most of my reading on the bed, and I found that hardcover books are easier on the eyes. A softcover book is harder to hold, and even harder to read due to page creases in the middle. You can even take (pencil) notes on your hardcover book, which is a very important tip for you if you hold onto it for reference. My notes are mostly in the table of contents, to clarify things, in case I need to refer back to it for any reason. I hope you build up a nice collection in the next few years. But don't get arrogant and think that expensive stuff is, "in", because you will want to kill yourself.

Good morning. "Easier to hold"? Now there we differ. I find softcover book easier to hold. Maybe it is how I hold them. Their only problem is that they are so often in very fine print which is crowded together. Hard covers usually have a better format for reading.

    Have a good day. hazelm
