Looking for a refresh from the RationalSkep ( used to be RDF ) and the JREF spin off International Skeptics.

This place looks nicely international, not much on godbothering ( a problem with RationalSkep ) and good bit of science plus some general interest. Was nice to see new people joining.

Main area of science is AGW tho have a wide interest otherwise. Run a Mac computer tech business for 30 years, travel widely with my Australian partner and serious amateur photographer tho mostly based on good eye and good gear rather than manual settings expertise.

Like to review movies and books and will look around for a science book sticky. Song of the Dodo would be my first recommendation in that area.
Just reading Elephantoms now - mostly enjoy it and mainly because I used to spend winters in the Western Cape where it is set.

Have been riding motorcycles for 50+ years and still ride actively both in Australia and Canada....mostly touring on intermediate bikes and little bit of off pavement in tropical Australia ...generally to be able to chase some wildlife photos. Working from home the motorcycle community is my socialization arena and I participate actively in a couple of those. Many 10's of thousands of posts on AGW and in the motorcycle communities.

My business model lets me work anywhere in the world there is an internet connection so I get to travel a lot. With some limitations I can support any Mac computer questions from members ( email would be best ) tho not iPhone or iPad.
I have a long background in hi-end home entertainment ...mainly in emerging OLED monitors and 4k. Used to have high end audio expertise but that was decades ago tho I still understand the principles.

Life long science advocate and I live mostly in Canada and part time in Australia. Enjoys forums with a mix of international members. Voracious consumer of media - audio books, Kindle books, movies, TV series - I can watch while I work and even on the motorcycle audio books make the add to the pleasure.

I'm visually oriented so you'll find my posts have images and emoticons tho the latter seem a bit thin here.

Mostly civil but can get a bit snarly on certain topics like AGW denial and anti-vaxxers.

Will chase down some posts to get my profile pic in place.

Think I will wait a bit until you get your technical problems sorted...laterz.

Hello Mac from fellow Canuck. I'm going to take you up on the Mac support question. First off, I'm not the most computer savvy guy in the world . I have a Mac Mini that I desperately need to update. People tell me my OSX 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) version makes it impossible for me to get the to the most recent update which I think is Sierra or something like that. I'm hoping to hire a computer geek to do this for me but first I need to know if it can be done. Thanks

All that belongs to human understanding, in this deep ignorance and obscurity, is to be skeptical, or at least cautious; and not to admit of any hypothesis, whatsoever; much less, of any which is supported by no appearance of probability...Hume
