    Hello,

My name is Amber, if you haven't already guessed. I'm currently a student, aiming towards a degree in either physics or pharmacy.. haven't really decided yet. I'm one of those people that has a ton of interests and no idea what to focus on. However, I'm leaning towards physics at the moment.

I'll be starting my first year in September, as at the moment I am upgrading my basic education. I slacked off a lot in high school.. you know, the hormones were running wild and I had a boyfriend to distract me from the important things in life, like good grades. I'm currently 21, working at a greenhouse part time and living in a shabby basement suite with my younger sister.

Ever since I was a small child I've had an interest in all things scientific. My parents are neo-pagan, so I grew up with strong beliefs in the metaphysical and am currently breaking free of anything that disagrees with the physical laws. When I was 12 my step-dad bought me a telescope, which I have enjoyed immensely. While my knowledge of the sciences isn't all that great just yet, I'm an enthusiastic student, and lately I've been devouring books on cosmology at an incredible rate (for me, anyway.) So please, forgive me if my future posts seem a bit ignorant - I'm still learning :P

I haven't posted much just yet - and I may not for a while. I like to lurk and observe before testing the waters... I like to know who my potential "allies" and "enemies" are

I expect the worst but hope for the best.

A warm welcome to the forum,, have a 'nice stay' Which ever science you eventually take, you should find you are interested in all of them, concentrate on the maths, it's the same for all the sciences.

Boyfriends tend to do that I hear [he hastily adds].

Physics covers a great many disciplines do you have a particular passion?

21 eh? jeesh that was a loooong time ago...

Fortunately for me, math is a bit of a strong point.

I find I'm quite interested in particle physics and astrophysics... haha, the very very small and the very very big, everything else is boring :P

Yeah, I came out of highschool interested in Quantum Physics. Than health, than biology, than chemistry, than the all encompassing nanotechnology, along with mathematics, and a little philosophy and religious studies thrown in and now I plan to move to China and join Shaolin. Amazing what can happen in a few years.

Who knows what life has for you but, it sounds like you will enjoy whatever you get.

    Welcome.
Do not try and bend the spoon. That's impossible. Instead... only realize the truth. There is no spoon. Then you'll see that it is not the spoon that bends, it is only yourself. -Spoon Boy

When the very very old has some very very valuable knowledge and wisdom to share, I am always very very passionate to listen.

My advice is to plan your career. Don't just drift into something. If it's physics, you'll probably have to get a phd and become a high school teacher or college professor. Not that there is anything wrong with that but figure out how you will get there.
