Hi all. I decided to join this forum because it seems like a cool place to meet like-minded individuals and discuss science stuff. I'm currently a PhD student in mechanical engineering, so I don't get much of a chance to talk to people about things like quantum mechanics. Hopefully being on this forum changes that. I look forward to getting to know you all.

Welcome! I'm not too big into mechanical engineering, I'm a paleo guy. But I hope to see you around the forum.

    Welcome to the forum, Sandalwood.

    Sandalwood is a pleasant incense.

I find forum names quite interesting and wonder at the reasons behind their selection.

Thanks. I hope I see you around as well. I'm actually from Washington (Seattle area). I had to move to the East Coast for school, but some day I hope to move back.

I love the smell of sandalwood. Fun fact: my beard oil smells like sandalwood (don't laugh; it keeps my beard nice and soft). I'm assuming your name comes from One Thousand and One Nights, right?

Cool, there's quite a few members on here that are either from Washington or live here. I'm from the Olympia area, but now I live in Eastern Wa.

Interesting about the beard oil. I have never heard of such a product though I have a friend who uses mustache wax. Hubby has a beard. I wonder if he would use such a product, though probably not. He declined to let the barber use any hair product on his cowlick, suggesting he just trim it shorter instead, lol. Still, I always enjoy learning new things of any sort.

Yes, I borrowed the name Scheherazade because my teaching style often utilizes story-telling.
