This beast of burden needs a lagoon. Is there shade here or does the service shine lights in your eyes and try to look at your teeth?

The pigeon flies the coop at midnight under the hazy sky, but only when the old man sleeps on the bench.

I will converse with those who have that skill themself. A forum is for discussion. If your self appointed deputies here cannot be specific in their criticism they are abusing the priviledge of public discourse. Unless the purpose here is to simply requote the work of others. If my speech is difficult to decipher it is because I am deliberate in my wording in the belief that rehashing the words of others contributes little to the efforts of the community. I don't seek to offend others. It is also not my failing if they have not the patience to properly digest a sentence before responding.

It is your failing if your rambling, incoherent sentences are incomprehensible.

Then perhaps you would care to enlighten us all as to the sense and meaning of your OP, given that this is a science forum ?

I would say we are dealing with a tired ageing camel who simply wants a place to rest without having to prove his age by his teeth. I love a metaphorical journey :-))

If you refer to the one I have started on the definition of malevolence it is a technical questioning of the limited defining of words to a language that is intended to provide a UNILATERAL & UNIVERSAL definition of terms. The latin language was constructed with care. The english language was instituted with deliberate intention to provide a fair and unbiased method of conversing within a planned COMMONWEALTH. I find it deplorable that the standard set in a "science" forum maintains an attitude of open hostility to newcomers with alternate ideas. I find it mocks the likes of Socrates, Aesop and all the martyrs that contributed to maintaining a coherent and progressive use of language and definition.

And I think we are dealing with someone who regards his style of writing as sophisticated, original and generally "above the masses", whereas in actual fact it really just looks nonsensical, snobby, and really quite stupid.
But who am I to judge *shrug* - everyone to his/her own.

I will converse with those who have that skill themself.
If conversation - both style and content - is so important to you, then I suggest you thoroughly acquaint yourself with the English language's basic grammar first.

    He obviously meant this one.

it is a technical questioning of the limited defining of words to a language that is intended to provide a UNILATERAL & UNIVERSAL definition of terms.
No natural language is intended to do that. Formal languages, such as some programming languages, can be characterised that way.

The latin language was constructed with care.
Latin was not "constructed". Like all natural languages it evolved from earlier languages. As such it is full of illogical structures, irregular formations and ambiguities.

The english language was instituted with deliberate intention to provide a fair and unbiased method of conversing within a planned COMMONWEALTH.
It wasn't "instituted" with any intention. It evolved from earlier Germanic languages under the influence of Norman French, modern French, Greek, Latin and many other languages.

I find it deplorable that the standard set in a "science" forum maintains an attitude of open hostility to newcomers with alternate ideas.
Do you have an alternative idea about some area of science?

I have limits to the amount of names I can devise with reason. I have not come here to be a nuisance. I would appreciate being allowed to attend without being harrassed for raising a concern I might have in the manner I feel may lead to an answer. I do not relate quickly to the contribution of personal remarks to a subject thread. Are people here to groom their comprehension or brag and jostle for some imaginary position of heirarchy here?

Why do you think that being asked to explain a particularly cryptic post is harassment?

for raising a concern I might have in the manner I feel may lead to an answer.
What concern do you have? And what question are you looking for an answer to?

I do not relate quickly to the contribution of personal remarks to a subject thread.

What does that have to do with the well-documented history of the English language?

I think you sould comprehend that I came here seeking those with comprehension. I know beyond doubt that there are people here with the facility of comprehension. I find your contributions intrusive and imposing without cause or structure. I am not here to be tested. I am here for the art of conversation. You impress me as somebody who got pipped for dux or something. I'm not sure what your resentment is.

I agree with cameldowndelta as I know how much can be learned from good natured banter with interesting people.... provided the topics are located in appropriate sections.

Enquring into the nature of language and it's roots is a fascinating subject and I am aware of a number of members on this forum who have a lot to offer in this respect.....

Anyway, time to hit the hay down here.

    Take care all :-))

    So you have no citation?
Well, since English existed for hundreds of years before Queen Elizabeth I was born, I call your claim bullshit.

If you want me to spell it out for you then you have missed the purpose of Lady Justice being blindfolded. I am simply asking you to explain what you are talking about. I don't see your series of incoherent, poorly spelled and ungrammatical non sequiturs as a good basis for a conversation.

You appear to consider any response to your comments to be insulting, harassment, intrusive and imposing. What do you expect from a conversation? Do you just expect responses of the form, "Oh yes, camel. That is a really wise and profound comment" or would you like to explain what your point is so that it can be discussed.

Your distinct vague memory of "how the english got round taking over the world and blah blah" is not worth the paper it is not written on.
And now you expect us to prove you wrong.

That is classic crackpot behaviour - that and comparing yourself to Socrates and Aesop.

The Aesop comparison may be apt. He was a bugger for making stuff up as well (although I don't think he tried to pass it off as fact)

In that case I suggest you rethink your approach. The reason why I made the moderator comment in post #3 is that several members here have reported you for trolling, using the "Report Post" function to the bottom left; now, if I get reports about a new member after him/her having made just a handful of posts, then that raises red flags for me as a moderator. So, if you have a point to make/present/argue, you are free to do so in the appropriate section, but do it in a manner that would be considered "normal", not in a style such as your OP :

This beast of burden needs a lagoon. Is there shade here or does the service shine lights in your eyes and try to look at your teeth?
This does you no favours, and will not entice anyone here to enter into a serious discussion with you. My assessment about this looking nonsensical, snobby and a bit stupid was not harassment, but a very honest opinion, which, I dare say, many here will share. So go on discussing what you wish to discuss, but I will be done in a mutually acceptable manner.
