Hello, just found this forum and it's pretty neat. The people here seem intelligent and well educated which is nice. Right now I am 16 in high school and i am wanting a career in science, hopefully here I can learn a thing or two and get and idea of what field I want to be in. At the moment I am leaning toward some sort of job in biotechnology. I know it is made up of so many other things I can specialize in, but I hope to find the part I want to go through with. My goal is to help and benefit others through science. If any of you have any sort of literature, tips, or recommendations feel free to mention them.

Hello and welcome to the Science Forum!
What exactly is it that attracts you to the field of biotechnology?

"The only safe rule is to dispute only with those of your acquaintance of whom you know that they possess sufficient intelligence and self-respect not to advance absurdities; to appeal to reason and not to authority, and to listen to reason and yield to it; and, finally, to be willing to accept reason even from an opponent, and to be just enough to bear being proved to be in the wrong."

Well I was thinking maybe something in regenerative medicine like stem cells or gene therapy, but I am not quite sure. Maybe working with molecular genetics would be cool.. Those are some ideas at least, I don't know a whole lot about what you can specialize in biotech but I found those to be interesting.

Biotechnology is a field with a lot of possibilities, ranging from agriculture and food technology to personalized medicine.
I am sure you will fit into the Biology and Health & Medicine sub-fora.
