It is physics: everything far far away (eg. moon) make only tiny angular change when it move, compared to things that is very very close (eg. cloud) which create large angular change when it move. Everything that we see with eyes is determined by its angle, and so manipulate this angle will change its size and speed (eg. magnifying the moon with respect to the sky with telescope).

So you see, the world doesn't work intuitive to us; sometimes we may thought that moon & sun move like an art and sometimes some basic principle of physic like a spinning-top astonish us (eg. with the gyroscope effect). Learning physic is the only way to know the truth about everything... its not about the job/career.

Erm... if light came from a dot, and this dot is far far away from us, then it will enter our eye at an angle, and it will land as a dot on the retina.

I urge you to find illustration in the internet and not use only my comment to confirm any idea.
