I am your acshual "Newbie" here.

I am NOT a Scientist - but I have studied some aspects of Science for the last 50 something Years.

I was for 30 plus Years, a Design Engineer - Machinery & Equipment, Mechanical, Hydraulic, Electrical, Hydraulic and Electrical Control Systems.

I Graduted in Computer and Digital Electronics in 1991 - with a B.Eng Hons. Degree -
    Lower Second, sorry.

Riiight - I only ever started coming On-Line in September 2009 - playing Evony for six Months - it was like being in Hell.
Then I left - and Joined Facebook - now I have Thousands of Friends there.

February this Year, I joined another Forum - sorry but that was full of A*holes - always arguing, incapable of serious discussion, flaming and spamming was rife - endless arguments over Politics and Religion. On the other hand - heaps of jokey rubbish without end. I never go there any more.

Then I joined a second Site two weeks later - and I have been there ever since.
Good People, sensible Moderation - sensible discussion, proper knowledge of subjects.
That is a Military type Site ( another of my major areas of Interest is Warfare, History of Warfare,
Weapons ) where I spend a lot of time.
I am playing in SIX "play-by-post" Games there - one of which I spend a lot of my time on,
as I am the Game Master and a Player. That is a Sci Fi Game - but we keep it nearly always
to REAL Physics ( except FTL Drives ), REAL Chemistry, REAL Science.
Consequently, I have had to learn a lot of Physics, Chemistry, Astronomy, Cosmology.

From what I have seen of the Admin's Introduction - and the Forum Rules.
This should be a very good place to Visit.

I may be trying to get Clever Scientific Types in here to help me understand
Science Problems - or even find solutions to problems arising in my Game.

I do hope that you will not think of me as a "waste of space" - but you are never
too old to learn, and I am very much aware that I have mountains still to learn.

    Welcome,
You are right, you are never to old to learn, nor to share what you have learned with those who are intelligent enough to listen.

I can't compete with your knowledge in the way that you have studied hard to where you have arrived many years after your studies.

I can mention one thing, Once a few years ago i was walking down the road and i heard thunder and thought i should get home quickly as the storms in asia can become quite fiece at times. As i walked i blinked and less than a second later the lighting struck into the lake, i was kinds shocked so i did it again and then the same happened. I was in good health and had just came back from a run. was i running so far and so healthy that i was infact before time and faster than the speed of light.

It's just thought and science could solve this problem.

It's quite clear (from basic physics) that the thunder you heard was from a more distant strike.

Good Idea there, But if the sound of the thunder was almost a fraction of a second after the lighting strike how would that clarify my idea of what I did? Unless there was another storm tem miles away showing the same pattern and familialarities as the storm I was close to.

I know but don't to be one of those know alls. But ghen again my mrs said i should shes sat here now

so are you saying the lightning was striking then the thunder was happening?
