    Hello,

    My name's Max. I'm 18, just finishing up high school. I'm not huge into science at the moment. I mean, of course I've taken gen science, bio, chemistry, basic classes like that, but nothing too advanced. I've been really thinking a lot about it though, and I think I may want to pursue a career in astrology. So I figured, if I'm even going to seriously consider this at all, I may as well begin learning now.

    So my first question to you guys as a collective group is this;
    Could you point me towards some basic articles or some form of online learning material? Preferably free ones, just basic astrology stuff that I could look into.

    Hi Max,
    welcome to the forum.

    I think you probably mean astronomy. Astrology is the unscientific and discredited belief that we can predict the future from the positions of the stars at the time of our birth.

    The Nine Planets site is a good one for an introduction to the solar system. Actually it's the Eight Planets site, since Pluto got downgraded to to a dwarf planet.
    The NASA site on the planets is also good.

    About.com has a basic on-line course you may find helpful.

    There is a basic introduction to stellar types here.

    Once you've had a chance to look through some of these come back with specific questions. (If I don't notice your query here and no one else replies, then pm me.)

    And, since science is always willing to revise its conclusions and assumptions, you might also try going to EightPlanets.org, which is essentially the same site with "Nine" crossed out and "8" overwritten.

    Pluto was promoted from smallest, most diminutive planet to largest, king of the dwarf planets a few years ago...
