There was all this hype around this guy Osmanagic who believed he had found some buried pyramids in Bosnia, and then we haven't heard much since. The story I've heard is that they didn't want to just bulldoze the hills and see, because of fear that some non-pyramid-related local history might be buried in the dirt.

But it's kind of sad not having the matter settled. You think people didn't really believe there would be pyramids under there if they did it? Do you believe there would be?

Bulldoze the hills thats such a horrible excuse! you know if it were legitimate they would have a team of archeaologists slowly uncover the remains in the hills.

Regardless there are tons of pyrimid structures all over the world, it would not be out of place

Yeah. That's why its interesting. I think part of our problem is that Osmanagic is trying to interpret too much out of the pyramids. He thinks it "proves" the Incans or Mayans were in contact with ancient Europe. I think it's natural, from a social point of view, for them not to want to have to deal with a project that he'll be in charge of.

Still, it's sad to think that personality issues can get in the way of good science happening. If they dug up a pyramid, it would be really sweet.

Indeed. If he's a real scientist then he would want to know the truth and allow it to be dug up. It's nice to have some unsolved mysteries around, but a scientist wouldn't dwell on that any longer than necessary.

Yeah. They should look for a way to extract the soil in large blocks, or something, so the middle age artifacts can be examined later on. The pyramid (if one exists) is much more interesting than stuff from the middle ages. We already know quite a lot about the middle ages, but very little about really ancient history.

Moderator Comment: Charvaka, welcome to the forum. I see you have made several posts in threads that are almost five years old. This is generally not a good idea. Try to restrict yourself to the more recent threads. If you wish to discuss the subjects of old threads it might be worthwhile starting a new one.
