Hello. My grandfather was a WW2 veteran before he passed away. He was in the US Navy. His uniform has an eagle, two keys crossed, and a red v. What does this mean?

    the v was rank-petty officer third class(e 4--about equal to a corporal)
    keys meant store keeper

was the eagle on the same patch as the v
then just part of the rank insignia

    seperate, need to see it

The eagle and keys are right above the red v on the upper left arm.
