I have do do a presentation in physics on the following topic:

"Describe instances where the development of new technolgies resulted in the advancement or revision of scientific theories."

The theory or the technolgy does not have to be related to physcis but any of the sciences. I was thinking of doing the electron microscope. However, i cannot think of any specific theories or scientific discoveries other then the discovery of specific organeelles within the cell. Because i dont know what theories to talk about it is very difficult to do research.

If anyone could think of other scientific theory or understanding brought on by the electron microscope (or another technolgy with examples of how it changed science) it would be extremly usefull.

The easiest way to go would probably be the invention of the telescope. For a long time it was impossible to tell whether the earth or the sun was the center of the solar system; people could make models that explained the observed motion of the planets either way. Then we started making telescopes, and were able to see that the earth-centered model was wrong.
