The following is actually based on real life event Im aware of and I was curious what others here would do , as some of you run in these circles to start with.

None of this Hypothetical apart from the fact he is still alive, I fear though that is going to be just a matter of time.

Basically I will start by saying person a) has found himself in dilema through as seris of unfortunate events .

These events are further complicated by the following facts:

    1) There is no account of these types of symptoms anywhere .

2 ) The symptoms themselves as result are not something that can be easily diagnosed as result for obvious reasons.

3 ) The events themselves that lead to this make it hard to distinguish what happened and are caused or started by a treament that itself is considered puesdoscience.

3 ) The symptoms manifest in various ways but ultimately in muscloskeletal sense to the point person a ) can no longer walk without crutches.

4 ) As result of all these factors person a ) has been diagnosed as mentally ill also and is monitored for any detrioration physical and otherwise.

5 ) This has lead to person a ) to becoming anxious, as result of " carers " perception that he should not be allowed a wheelchair given it seen as mental not physical detrioration.

6 ) This in turn has forced person a ) to experiment and self treat himself
or seek treatment when he can afford to , to try and stop detrioration for fear of getting admitted.

7 ) As result of all this scenario person a ) has spent considerable time looking for loopholes.

Person a) Has looked at research but noted research is only funded by entities with an interest in " pre- existing conditions " - no one will respond or consider otherwise

8 ) Person a ) Notes through his own accumulated knowledge and self experince that his symptoms respond best to these certain treatments which further support his theories regarding his condition and how it came about i.e. because they counter the basic idea of the treatment he recieved .

9 ) Person a ) becomes mentally agitated at the fact he is in catch 22 scenario and can not vindicate or prove something that no one is prepared to give him benefit of the doubt on.

10 ) Person a ) Detriorates physically and is afraid to go to any one
Person a ) As result of physical impairment and anxiety becomes housebound to protect his body.

11 ) Person a ) Becomes disillusioned with life , faith ( he is very religious and more isolated

    Person a ) kills himself

Your initial post is long and rambling, with so many elements to it yet with so few specifics that it's quite difficult to offer any kind of advice other than, if I were person A, I would continue to look for doctors and people that could help me, even if I'd been turned down many times already. This country is filled with doctors and specialists and someone somewhere will be able to help.

Do not criticize us for being unable to give you all of what you want within two hours of your original post. We are a science discussion forum, not The Answer People.
Man can will nothing unless he has first understood that he must count on no one but himself; that he is alone, abandoned on earth in the midst of his infinite responsibilities, without help, with no other aim than the one he sets himself, with no other destiny than the one he forges for himself on this earth.
    ~Jean-Paul Sartre

Yes but person a ) is not filled with money nor in the US .

I agree the post is long but it is long and actually cut down in many way to try to highlights the complexity of the situation, if I was to be blunt
and about what person a ) believes has happened then Im quite sure there would be no response ( Hes tried more than few times himself )

So I suppose then I'll attempt to put this bit differently seeing as I am obviously no better than he is at trying to garner interest what if I said that persons case might re-write the medical books if proven.

I know its big claim but how would you propose someone in this sort of scenario given the stigma and the wide held beliefs of medical community in general go about trying to prove it ?

You know how many scientists were ridculed for their theories and he is not even a scientist and to boot has this shadow of mental illness now used as scapegoat against him in his own country ( uk ), how do you possible counter all that ?

Well now, 33, as you have just demonstrated, it is entirely possible to get a case publicised using this wonderful interwebthingy. Perhaps you could persuade your friend to make a case study of himself/herself for the interweb - there are quite likely to be enough medically qualified doctors who wouldn't mind sparing half an hour or so to examine the symptoms concerned and providing assistance in terms of further directions for research etc.

    All the best with that.

When my friend was more " able " he certainly looked and tried to make contact with a few places though ,as Im sure your aware , there is no research study that does research on anomalies or cases that are undiagnosed .

A simple pre-screening using standard Mris or testing is very unlikely to find anything of this described nature ( even if that was possible ) given what Ive been told , hence my question in the Medicine section.

Signs of stressed or weakened ligaments are notriously hard to find even in more common places such as shoulders, esp when Radiologist doesnt know what he is looking for .

    1) Your post is basically "Here's a situation" - but there's no comment on what you want from US about the situation. How is anyone supposed to respond to "I went to the store and bought groceries". Ok....and?
    2) It is generic as hell and therefore uninteresting. "Person a" has "a dillema" due to "unfortunate events" and now has "symptoms" which he receives "various treatments" for. Come on now.

Sounds like yer friend's got a deep psychological problem. Possibly related to the same psychological forces which cause placebos to work. It's been known to happen, but as you say, it's pretty tough to diagnose because the person doesn't have many test-able symptoms.
