    ...I feed them only fruit.

I found over the years that while it can be difficult to get my kids to eat their vegetables, it's easy to get them to eat fruit. So I figured: why not just feed them fruit? Fruits are, after all, just vegetables with a higher concentration of sugar.

^ Is this right though? Am I causing my children an imbalance in their diet by feeding them only fruits and no vegetables?

Fruit and vegetables do have a lot of nutrients in common but to get a balanced diet that contains all the nutrients you need it is best to eat both. Of the top of my head, the current "5 a day" guidelines are 3 portions of veg and 2 of fruit a day.

Fruits are nutritionally very different from vegetables, being the sugar filled enticement to get seeds eaten and then transported, many of the fruits that are commonly eaten by humans (apples, oranges, and the like) are only sugar since we dont eat the seeds that have the main nutrient concentration. Also in cases where we do eat the seeds too eg strawberries and raspberries, the majority of the seeds will just pass on through. Vegetables, (being the stems, leaves and roots/tubers/rhizomes) will have a much larger concentration of other key nutrients not seen in fruits.

Fruits and vegetables of different colour groups provide us with different vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, therefore it is important that the child consumes a wide variety of both fruits and vegetables to get the maximum nutrients they provide.

I'd try to encourage them to eat more vegetables than fruit, as already mentioned fruit contains more sugar though so a balanced portion of both is optimal. Have you tried disguising the vegetables? e.g try making a soup using a good mixture of various vegetables and some seasoning and give them some wholemeal bread to dip in. I used this trick with my kids they loved the soup not realising it contained all the vegetables blended into a creamy soup that they claimed to "dislike".
